Hampi
Sightseeing
After breakfast full day visit of Hampi. Hampi the once
beautiful capital city of Vijayanagar empire and the greater
than Rome, had palaces, temple and sculptures, spread
all over. The city was razed to the ground by the sultanates
of south in year 565. Some of the interesting ruins remaining
are the Virupaksha, Vittala and Hazara Rama temples huge
Ganesha & Narasimha images, the elephant stables,
the Queen`s bath, carvings on the Ramachandra temple,
lotus Mahal. It is today a World Heritage site. Return
to hotel in the evening.
Badami
City Tour
After breakfast visit the Badami caves. Badami also known
as Vatapi rich with Hindu and Jain temples carved out
of sand stone hills. The carved temples date back to the
6th century. Of these three are Hindus and one Jain. Sculptured
out of solid rock they are adorned with carvings. Fort,
on top of a hill encloses large galleries, treasury &
a watch tower. The famed Malegitti Shivalaya temple set
on the summit of a hill is built of stones joined without
mortar.
Bijapur

Proceed to visit Gol Gumbaz, the great mausoleum of Ibrahim`s
successor Muhammad Adil Shah III. Thereafter continue
your drive to Bijapur upon arrival check in at hotel.
Afternoon city tour of Bijapur the great monuments built
y Muslim rulers of Bijapur Adil Shah sultan`s are masterpieces
of Islamic architecture, "city of Victory" is
great cannon known as the malik-E-Maidan, Jama Masjid
and Ibrahim Roza is said have inspired the Taj Mahal.
Gulbarga
The most important monument in Gulbarga is the Khwaja
Bande Nawaz Dargah, the tomb of the great Sufi saint.
Built in the Indo-Saracenic style, it is also the venue
of an annual Urs, attended by thousands. Visit the Fort,
which has 15 towers and 26 guns, one of them measuring
25 feet in length. Also worth seeing are Sultan Hanan`s
tomb, the tomb of Ghias-ud-din, and the fine mausoleum
of Feroze Shah and his family, the Haft-Gumbaz outside
the city. The Mahboob Gulshan surrounded by well-kept
lawns draws many visitors, as does the Shrine of Shri
Sharanabasaveshwara, a famous pilgrim centre standing
near the Gulbarga pond. |
