Unlike
other popular hill stations such as Shimla and Kullu -
Kasauli is a quiet town. It is ideal for people who want
to spend a holiday in the midst of green hills and untouched
natural beauty. If you are a solitude lover – an
ideal characteristic for a honeymoon or an artist, it
has everything you could want, scenic beauty, serenity
and warmth and few friendly people.
Kasauli is about 20 kms from Barog and 60 kms from Chandigarh.
Kasauli was also developed by the British, just as Shimla
was. It is at a height of 6500 feet, making it a very
delightful hill station for summers.
While in Kasauli you could participate in Nature walks
- The Gilbert trail, Sunrise Point, Sunset Point, Lover’s
Lane, Upper Mall, Lower Mall and Pine Walk from Village
Kimmughat via Kasauli Regency to Lower Mall. Or enjoy
trekking on the known trekking routes of Kalka to Kasauli,
Manaon to Kasauli or Kasauli to village Hari Ka Kheel

KUFRI |

Kufri
is located in the southern part of the state of Himachal
Pradesh, in the northern region of India. It is perched
at an altitude of 2,510 m above sea level amongst the
foothills of the Himalayas. Kufri is a scenic hill resort
16 kms from Shimla.. The weather in Kufri is alpine. Summers
(April-June) are mild while winters (November-February)
are cold. It experiences southwestern monsoon rains in
July-September. It experiences heavy snowfall in December-January
and it wears its white winter garb, with snow trimmings
on its undulating slopes which are fashioned by nature.
Skiing facilities and training for beginners are available
during the best part of winter. The best time to visit
Kufri is in summers, between April and June. However,
one may also be in Kufri between December and February
to enjoy snowfall and skiing.
The nearest airport to Kufri is Jubbarbhatti airport at
Shimla, which is at a distance of about 19 Km. Regular
flights are accessible form this airport to Delhi. After
reaching airport you can use taxi or bus to to Kufri.
The nearest railhead to Kufri is at Shimla in narrow gauge
rail route and broad gauge railway station is at Kalka.
After reaching railway station, you can use bus or taxi
to reach the beautiful hill station, Kufri. Kufri is well
linked with Shimla, Narkanda and Rampur by road. |
COORG |

Coorg
is fondly referred to as the 'Scotland of the East', the
land has unparalleled natural splendor. Apart from the
misty hills, lush forests and rambling coffee plantations
Coorg is also as trendy and happening as its close neighbor
Bangalore. It is like the dreamland of the philosopher
in The Abbey Falls is at a distance from Madikeri Town.
It takes a drive along the ups and downs; turns and twists
to reach majestic Abbey Falls. Water plunging down creates
a hazy cloud and garrulous noise. Somwarpet is the sprawling
coffee plantation with towering trees, which is a fabulous
treat to the eyes. Heady smell of cardamom and pepper
creates a wonderful feeling.
Coorg has many verdant trekking routes in the midst of
forests and hills, and it's best to go in the months from
October to February. Some of the known trails are in the
hills of Brahmagiri, where you could trek your way to
the Irrupa Falls. You could also consider trekking to
Pushpagiri, the second higest peak of Kodagu and Tadiandamol
(the highest peak).
Avid golffers can tee off at the 9-hole course of Virajpet.
Valanoor is the backwater of the river Cauvery which is
known for its angling. It draws fishing lovers from all
over India. You can try and catch the famous mahaseer
and the best season is from October to May. One can always
take an elephant safari to watch tigers, panthers, rhinos
and wild elephants, gaur, deer, wild dogs and langur.
Madikeri is the biggest tourist attraction in Coorg. Coorgi
cuisine is famous and unique, especially for non-vegetarians
as it is based on game meats, pork and other delicious
ingredients.
The nearest airport from Coorg is Mangalore (135 kms).
There is a well connected network of roads connecting
the city with important cities like Mysore, Mangalore
and Bangalore ( 260 kms) . Mysore is the most convenient
railhead from Coorg.

KALIMPONG |

The
name, Kalimpong, has three different origins. One, it means
the place where the local tribesmen gathered to organize
field sports, second, it takes it’s name from the
Bhutanese king’s minister’s stronghold and thirdly,
it is named after Kaulim, a fibrous plant found in abundance
in this region. The road is one of the most scenic routes
in this part of the nation. The swift flowing Teesta river
runs by the side of the road adding to the beauty of the
scenery.
During the stay in Kalimpong one can view many Gompas -The
Tharpa Choeling Gompa, the Tongsa Gompa, or Bhutanese Monastery
and theZong Dog Palri Fo-Brang Gompa. The mountain views
are amazing from Durpin Dara Hill. Kalimpong produces 80%
of India’s gladioli and is a significant orchid-growing
area and it comes as no surprise that flowers are exported
from here to many cities in northern India
Experience White Water Rafting on the Teesta River. Graded
on the international scale at Grade II, III & IV, the
icy cold waters of the rugged Teesta with a series of rapids
with varying intensity and character, extend a challenging
invitation to one of the finest rafting stretches in the
world. The turbulent waters of the Rangeet with its multidimensional
rapids provide rafters of all age groups with a variation
meant for professionals. The spectacular scenery confronting
a rafter while one snakes down the mountain rivers make
this experience a must for all lovers of adventure.
The nearest airport from Kalimpong is Bagdogra near Siliguri.
From Bagdogra, Kalimpong is nearly 70kms away. In the northern
side of West Bengal Bagdogra is an important domestic airport,
which is regularly served by flights from Kolkata, Delhi.
Siliguri serves as the gateway to reach Kalimpong. Siliguri
is well connected by road to Kolkata, Guwahati and Patna.
On the other hand, there is a good network of internal roads,
which also link Kalimpong to Darjeeling and Kalimpong to
Gangtok in Sikkim.
