Transfer from Chennai airport to hotel by road and check
in to your hotel.
Afternoon City tour.
Madras, the gateway to the sunny south, the capital of
Tamil Nadu is also the seat of an ancient civilization,
with a rich heritage of fine arts, sculpture and architecture.
Historically, Madras has formidable credentials, going
back 2000 years, when its old temple quarter, Mylapore,
was a port on the fabled Coromandel Coast, busy trading
with the Chinese, the Phoenicians, the Greeks, Romans,
and later, the French, Portuguese, Armenians and Arabs.
St. Thomas, Christ`s own Apostle, landed here in 58 A.D.
and was martyred in 72 A.D. on an inland hillock.

Kanchipuram, Kanchi, or Kancheepuram is
a temple city and a municipality in Kanchipuram district
in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is a temple town
and the headquarters of Kanchipuram district. In ancient
times it was called Kachi and Kachiampathi.
Kanchipuram is located on the Palar River, and known for
its temples and silk sarees.
Today visit the city of Chennai covering
the government museum and Fort St. George. After lunch
an interesting excursion to Mamallapuram. Here we visit
the shore temples that date back from the 8th century.
Also see the rock cut monolithic temples including Arjuna;s
Penance and Tiger cave.

Sri Rangam is known for its Vaishnavite temple . The temple
has 21 magnificent towers surrounded . This temple built
around the 13th and 14th centuries. Visit Sri Jambukeswara
Temple, Rock Fort Temple is in the centre of the city.
It is 83 metros high and can be reached by climbing 437
steps cut into a tunnel through the rock. There is a Vinayaka
temple on the top.
Also visit the Srirangam Temple, the abode of Lord Vishnu

MADURAI
One of South India`s great temple towns, Madurai is
synonymous with the celebrated Meenakshi Temple. Situated
on the banks of river Vaigai, Madurai has a rich cultural

2500 years old. Madurai was an important cultural and
commercial center even as early as 550 AD. It was the
capital city for the great Pandya kings.

Madurai - Periyar

Drive from Madurai to Periyar.
Reach Periyar Wild Life Sanctuary and check into your
hotel. Later get set for a jungle trail.
This is one of the most picturesque reserves in India.
A dam constructed on the Periyar River in 1895 led to
the submersion of a large forest area and the formation
of a 55 sq km lake which assured the local wildlife a
perennial source of water and led to its rapid multiplication.
If we are lucky we`ll see Elephant, tiger, sambar, barking
deer, lion tailed macaque and a rich birdlife on a government
run boat ride.
Afternoon
enjoy a boat ride on the lake to see wildlife. You can
also see some spice gardens. Pepper, gooseberry and
tamarind trees are in abundance in this area along with
Cinnamon, all-spice, and curry plants are planted in
the spice gardens.

CITY TOUR
Morning sightseeing of the city; the highlight of the
city is George Town, with the most interesting landmarks
all-dating from the days of the British, including Fort
St George and St Mary`s Church. Popham`s Broadway (named
after late 18th century British lawyer Stephen Popham)
contains the Weslyan and Armenian churches. The 19th-century
Indo-Saracenic High Court still operates today and tours
are available to see the ornate stained glass windows.
Away from the British relics are things far more Indian:
The ancient Shiva temple Kapaleeshvara, in Mylapore, is
an excellent example of Dravidian temple architecture,
with inscriptions dating back to 1250 AD.
Nearby is Parthasarathy Temple, devoted to Lord Krishna.
Also visit the Bronze museum; the collection of bronze
figures contains specimens of different periods ranging
from the early centuries of the Christian era to the recent
times.
PONDICHERRY
CITY TOUR
Morning free at leisure. Afternoon sightseeing of Pondicherry
will include the Aurobindo Ashram, Pondicherry museum
and Old Pondicherry town.
Auroville or the `City of Down` was conceived as a utopian
paradise by the Mother, the spiritual successor of Sri
Aurobindo. The idea was to build a futuristic city where
people of goodwill would live together in peace and harmony.
Auroville came into existence in 1968. The Auroville Charter
says "To live in Auroville one must be a willing
servitor of the Divine Consciousness" and describes
it as belonging to "nobody in particular, but to
humanity as a whole and as being a place of constant progress
and a bridge between the past and the future".
Thanjavur
Full day city tour includes Sri Brahadeeswara Temlpe.
This Massive temple was built by the great Chola King
Raja Raja I in the 10th century AD. Non Hindus are not
allowed inside the sanctum sanctorum . And finally visit
the Palace, Royal Museum, Art Gallery, Naageswaran Temple,
Schwartz Church etc.
Tour
of the Meenakshi temple and the city, the city of Madurai
was planned out in the shape of lotus with the famous
Meenakshi temple in the center. This is one of the biggest
temple complexes in India. The five pagodas that surround
the temple are known for its intricate stuccowork and
the 48.8 meter high southern gopuram is the tallest. The
temple has a marvelous hall of a thousand elaborately
carved pillars. Not too far from the temple is Thirumalai
Mahal, a palace that is constructed in the Indo-Saracenic
style. A set of musical pillars here, each carved out
of a single block of granite into 22 slender rods, emit
musical notes when tapped.
Afternoon
visit the Chettinad Villages, Karaikudi and 74 other villages
comprise Chettinad, the homeland of the Nattukottai Chettiars.
The Chettiars were a prosperous banking community who
ventured overseas to do business in South and Southeast
Asia in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Their legacies
are the fascinating houses of Chettinad they built with
simple materials. These are houses that have to be seen
to be believed. Not yet discovered by the world, Chettinad
is a rural area certain to surprise even the most discerning
traveler. Apart from the houses, Karaikudi offers extensive
antique shopping, weekly shandy a number of temples, visits
to craftsmen working with wood and metal, silversmiths
and goldsmiths, attractive textiles and exciting Chettiar
cuisine.
ALLEPPEY
HOUSEBOAT

and transfer to Jetty to check into the houseboat. Enjoy
aboard houseboat sailing and witnessing the backwaters
of Kerala.
COCHIN

Visit the Jewish Synagogue, one of the oldest in India.
The synagogue in Jew town was built in 1568 and rebuilt
in 1664. Its interior is a hotchpotch of styles, with
hand painted blue and white floor tiles from Canton, 19th
century Belgian oil-burning chandeliers and an elaborately
carved Ark housing four scrolls from the Torah, the first
five books of the Old Testament.
Also visit the Dutch Palace, well known for its mural
paintings. And see the Chinese fishing nets in operation;
at the entrance of Kochi Harbor.... they are a fascinating
sight. They were first brought back by Chinese traders
from Kublai Khan`s court. Also visit the St. Francis church,
the oldest church in India.
Enjoy a boat cruise on Cochin harbour; A cruise around
Cochin`s harbor is an Excellent opportunity to get an
over all impression of this beautifully located city,
revealing Arab dhows, Chinese fishing nets, bazaars, old
storage warehouses and traditional mansions.)
Visit
Maharaja Palace - the palace is a splendid structure in
the Indo-Saracenic Style, among its many attractions are
a magnificent gold throne displayed during the Dasara
celebrations, Brindavan Gardens - the Krishna Raja Sagar
Dam after sundown, when musical fountains and colored
lights transform this place into a magical fairyland.
Morning
after leisure breakfast at hotel and drive to Hassan.
Enroute visit Sravanbelagola visiting. The huge 17.7mtr
high monolithic statue of first Jain sage Gommateshwara
Bahubali and Frescoes. Thereafter continue your drive
to Hassan upon arrival check in at hotel. Afternoon proceed
